Product description

Macsween Traditional Haggis with a charcuterie starter

Macsween Traditional Haggis takes pride of place at this Burns Supper for two. Bring the haggis to the table for the traditional address, then serve a peppery helping on each plate with neeps, tatties and whisky cream sauce.

For the sharing starter, lay out the Great Glen smoked venison, cured beef and chicken liver pâté with Scottish oatcakes and Arran caramelised red onion chutney. Cock-a-leekie soup, clootie dumpling and tablet complete the menu.

One kit serves 2 people. Order 2 kits for 4 guests, 3 kits for 6, or 5 kits for 10. Set the number of kits using the quantity selector.

How to serve your Burns Supper

Here is a relaxed order for your evening. Follow each pack’s preparation and heating instructions, and time the hot courses around them.

  1. Sharing starter: Arrange Smoked Venison Great Glen Charcuterie and Smoked Cured Beef on a board. Serve Chicken Liver Pâté 90g with Traditional Scottish Oatcakes Macleans and Caramelised Red Onion Chutney Arran 195g alongside.
  2. Soup course: Clear the board and serve small bowls of Baxters Cock-a-leekie Soup before the main course.
  3. Bring in the haggis: Invite someone to read Address to a Haggis, then raise a glass before serving the main course.
  4. Main dinner: Serve Traditional Macsween Haggis with Mashed Turnip 400g, Mashed Potato 400g and MacSween Whisky Cream Sauce, shared between two people.
  5. Dessert and a sweet finish: Serve Traditional Clootie Dumpling, followed by Mrs Tilly’s Tablet. Custard, cream, tea or coffee are optional extras to add from home.

Make room for Burns, poems and a toast

Welcome everyone and, if you wish, say the Selkirk Grace before the first course. Keep Address to a Haggis just before the main, then enjoy the food. After dessert, try a short Immortal Memory toast to Burns, a favourite poem, or a light-hearted Toast to the Lassies and Reply. Finish with Auld Lang Syne. For two people, taking turns with a few lines is plenty.
