History of Aberdeen Rowies
Rowies, butteries or Aberdeen rolls!
This iconic Scottish product has a rich and very diverse history. It was founded or invented in the north east of Scotland and can be found in virtually every convenience store to this day. The rowie was originally made for fishermen going out to sea and become very popular due to their perishability as traditional bread and rolls went stale quickly whereas the rowie stayed edible for up to two weeks.
